One of India’s premier publishing houses, S-Chand Publications has invested Rs 35 lakhs in a Delhi-based ed-Tech startup Smartivity Labs Pvt. Ltd. It is learnt through its stock exchange filings.
S-Chand has been playing a key role in Smartivity Labs progress. It initially invested a seed amount of $200,000 in 2015, and further invested $1 million in pre-Series A round, led by AdvantEdge Partners. With the latest investment, S-Chand holds a major stake of 23.29% in the completely diluted company.
Smartivity Labs products include smart learning technique via various means. Aimed at children from 3-10 years, Smartivity allows customers to book S.T.E.M Kits, AR Coloring Kits, and AR Puzzles through its online store. The company aims to further diversify its products, and build more products for kids over 12 years. The main motto of the company is to make learning fun and exciting with conceptualized toys.
Other deals in ed-Tech recently include Avishkar Box, that raised $772,500 in its pre-Series A round from Auxano Deals. Similarly, online tutoring startup Vendantu Innovations is looking to raise up to $10 million in its next round of funding.
Industry and business experts believe that there is a high untapped market within the educational ecosystem in India.
