Flipkart has unfrozen the hiring process, announcing that it is looking to hire 700 techies across various verticals. The firm has also been on ‘campus recruitment drive’ after skipping many sessions in the recent past. The new jobs are mainly aimed towards data scientists, UI & UX designers, IT infrastructure & service delivery, IT application, product solution engineers, software developers, and tech program managers.
Few sources reported that Flipkart offered handsome packages to at least 20 students from the ISB (Indian School of Business) recently. The company’s ‘cost management measures’ limited the workforce to 8,000 employees from 15,000 employees (at the end of 2015).
A spokesperson for Flipkart confirmed that at least 50 open positions are exclusively for data scientists in its latest recruitment drive. ‘As a part of our ‘An I for India’ program, Flipkart is aggressively hiring in techies. At the same time, ‘Artificial Intelligence’ will play a major role in re-defining the Flipkart platform in the coming years’, added the spokesperson.
With Flipkart heavily investing in AI, and logistics hubs, it hopes that it can become profitable by FY 2018.
